WASHINGTON, D.C.

The State of Michigan is receiving nearly $70 million in federal home heating assistance this year. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps low-income and elderly residents pay their heating bills this winter. Congressman Bart Stupak hailed the allocation, saying that with heating bills going up 55 percent since 2002, northern Michigan residents need all the help they can get.
