Commissioners Pondering Joining Lawsuit
In his lawsuit, Portune wants the Bengals to renegotiate their lease with the county for Paul Brown Stadium. He also wants a loan from the National Football League to help make up the expected tax-revenue shortfall that could make it difficult for the county to pay debt service on the stadium. Neither the team nor the NFL has commented on Portune's lawsuit.

The Hamilton County Commissioners could decide this week whether to hire an outside attorney to examine Commissioner Todd Portune's lawsuit against the Cincinnati Bengals. They want to determine whether there are grounds to continue the suit and whether the county should join the suit. County Prosecutor Mike Allen has said he has a conflict of interest, because his office negotiated the county's stadium contract with the Bengals. So, Allen's office has determined it cannot represent the county if the commissioners should decide to join the Portune lawsuit. It's not known which outside law firms the commissioners are considering. In his lawsuit, Portune wants the Bengals to renegotiate their lease with the county for Paul Brown Stadium. He also wants a loan from the National Football League to help make up the expected tax-revenue shortfall that could make it difficult for the county to pay debt service on the stadium.
