McCain Attacks Obama During Reno Visit
(2008-05-29)
(KUNR) - Before a crowd of roughly five hundred people McCain was quick to criticize Barack Obama without mentioning Senator Clinton.

McCain: Sen. Obama is the chairmen of an important subcommittee that has the oversight of what is going on in Afghanistan. He has not held one single meeting on Afghanistan.

When asked about Yucca Mountain he said sometimes he has to tell people things they don't want to hear. Though his support for storing nuclear waste in Nevada drew cheers.

McCain: I support Yucca Mountain once it goes through all the process it needs to go through.

McCain echoed comments made in Devore, Tuesday, touting a program to send nuclear waste overseas. The senator emphasized fixing No Child Left Behind, and reigning in federal spending. He advocated drilling for oil in protected Alaskan wilderness and off the American coast. He drew some jeers for his support of an immigrant guest worker program. McCain also touched on his pro-life stance and spoke out against universal health care. He ended by saying he hates war but it would be irresponsible to leave Iraq prematurely.

McCain: If I didn't believe with all my heart that we have to see this thing through and that we are succeeding And the consequences of us setting a date for withdrawals sending a signal to Iran, Al-Qaeda, the militia there, Shiite and other that all you have to do is wait and then Iranian influence increases, the chaos increases, the genocide goes on and then unfortunately the United States will have to come back with greater sacrifice.

Sen. McCain followed the town hall meeting with a campaign fundraiser at the Eldorado Hotel and Casino.
