Task force says state should participate in more food programs
increase its participation in federal and nonprofit food programs to reduce hunger in the state.
The Oklahoma Task Force on Hunger says more than a half million Oklahomans don't receive sufficient nutrition each day.
It's issuing a report saying 14.6 percent of Oklahomans, or roughly 518,000 people, are food insecure - meaning they don't receive enough daily nutrition to meet minimum medical standards.
The task force also says the state should work to increase family economic stability and strengthen community food security.
The task force was created last year after Oklahoma was ranked first in the nation in hunger.
