The War of 1812 and the Long Struggle for the West
The War of 1812 may pale beside events like the French and Indian War, American Revolution or Civil War, yet it was the final battle in a half-century struggle for control of the American continent. Recent scholarship suggests new ways of thinking about the War of 1812 and the bitterly contested Ohio Valley at the center of a global conflict. Reception follows.
