NIU instructor returns to work DEKALB, IL (wnij) - It's the first day back at work for Northern Illinois University's faculty and staff, five days after a gunman killed five students and injured 16 others. NIU employees will be trained this week to help students, who return to campus next Monday. But even with the help of 300 volunteer counselors, it won't be an easy task.
