Anderson Japanese Gardens will host summer tea gatherings on Saturday, July 26th and Sunday, July 27th. Both dates will feature a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, hosted by Kimiko Gunji, Professor Emeritus of Japanese Traditional Arts & Culture at the University of Illinois. The gatherings will showcase a hands-on lesson focusing on proper tea serving procedures and guest etiquette.
After guests arrive to the Visitor Center, they will enjoy a hot cup of genmaicha, roasted rice flavored tea, in the beautiful setting overlooking the Gardens. Guests will then be guided through the gardens to Anderson Japanese Gardens’ 16th century Sukiya style Guest House for the tea ceremony. Space is limited for all tea ceremony times and reservations are required. All ceremonies are $45 per participant.
