The Northern Illinois University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences External Programming, College of Law, University Libraries, and Department of Communication sponsor a trip on Monday, October 14, to attend the “Joseph Smith Reenactment Trial and Panel Discussion” in Chicago at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts.
The reenactment trial will be a two-hour presentation of the three habeas corpus hearings involving Joseph Smith, the Mormon Prophet, and will be followed by a panel discussion of the use of habeas corpus—from Joseph Smith to Abraham Lincoln to Guantanamo Bay. Marc Falkoff, Associate Professor of Law at NIU and an expert on habeas corpus, will accompany program participants and offer a Q/A on the ride to and from Chicago. Tickets are $50 per person and student tickets are $40 per person. The fee includes admission to the presentation and coach transportation. Participants will depart from the Normal Road (west) entrance of the Holmes Student Center at 3:30 p.m. and return at approximately 10:00 p.m.
