On September 19th at 7pm, Feed’em Soup Community Project and The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb are co-sponsoring a screening of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize Nominee “A Place at the Table.” This film focuses on the very real and appalling problem of hunger right here in our own country where 50 Million Americans—1 in 4 children—don't know where their next meal is coming from. Many will be shocked at the extent of America’s hunger and nutrition problem explored in this film. Movie star Jeff Bridges ("The Big Lebowski") and culinary dynamo Tom Coliccho ("Top Chef") lend their charismatic testimony to the powerful stories of three Americans who maintain their dignity even as they struggle just to eat. In a riveting journey that will change forever how you think about the hungry, "A Place at the Table" shows how the issue could be solved forever. In the spirit of the film and the solutions it provides, Feed’em Soup will be hosting an open house directly after the film at their kitchen located at 122 South First Street in DeKalb. Lexi’s Kids Corner director Theresa Aubele will be holding tours of her newly redeveloped children’s program focused on educating children and their parents about good nutrition and making informed decisions at mealtimes. The open house will allow guests to tour the organization's kitchen and dining spaces as well as meet with organizers of both Feed’em Soup Community Project and the Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb.
