Union Leaders Discuss Possible City-Wide Strike
Mayor Byron Brown has repeatedly stated he's working to get the wage freeze lifted. But Foley says he's not sure how much longer union members will wait for Brown.
"I have been without a contract and a pay raise for five years...I am past the breaking point," Foley said.
It's illegal in New York state for public employee unions to strike under the Taylor Law.
Buffalo Teachers Federation President Phillip Rumore says "no one wants to break the law."
"Sometimes your back is against the wall. Our employees have families to fee too," Rumore said.
While a strike may still be up in the air - Rumore says the unions are going to picket the homes and businesses of control board members. © Copyright 2010, wned
