County Leaders Gather in Niagara Falls
forum in Niagara Falls this week. The session got underway Wednesday.
Leaders from New York's 62 counties will be discussing the issues of the day, including the economy.
County officials are fearful about what lies ahead. They've heard Governor David Paterson's pronouncements about the state of New York's budget and they know sooner rather than later Albany's budget woes will filter down to them.
"A county's budget is on average anywhere from 50-60...as high as 90 percent state mandated," said Stephen Acquario, NYSAC's Executive Director.
Acquario says the county leaders will also discuss the proposal for a tax cap in New York.
The NYSAC Forum continues thru Friday.
