PACS and Campaigns Fined for Failure to Report BUFFALO (wned) - The State Board of Elections is fining campaign committees which haven't filed the required financial reports.

The state board says 310 campaign and political action committees haven't filed the reports, all due at least two-months ago.

According to Gannett News Service, the board filed a series of legal judgments totalling $123,000 in State Supreme Court in Albany.

The most recent reports were due July 15. Those who didn't file electronically were given a five-day notice to file.

In all, the Board of Elections received reports from nearly 9,000 registered committees.

Common Cause New York is critical of this system. Executive Director Susan Lerner believes the fines should be larger and enforcement more rigorous.
