Thousands Lose Power as Ike Blows Through WNY
As of 10 a.m. Monday, National Grid reported more than 7,000 customers without service, most of them in Cattaraugus County. The utility said it may be Tuesday night before full service is restored.
A peak wind gust of 59 mph was reported at Niagara Falls, according to the National Weather Service. At Buffalo-Niagara International Airport, wind gusts reached 53 mph.
