Business First Ranks WNY School Districts
The survey is based on four years of test data compiled by the State Education Department and reflects the collective performance of the district's elementary, middle and high schools.
The paper ranks Williamsville number one...followed by Clarence, Amherst, Orchard Park and East Aurora.
Buffalo is ranked last.
New York State Board of Regents Chancellor Robert Bennett says the rankings are just one indicator of a school's performance.
"There are many, many other indicators that parents need to know about...but this is a useful discussion piece to make sure we look at who's performing," Bennett told WNED.
The paper also looked at several other categories. It ranks Clarence the most cost effective district, Westfield has the most experienced teachers while North Tonawanda has the highest teacher pay.
The Business First Guide to Western New York Schools hit newsstands Friday.
