Business First Ranks Administrative Pay BUFFALO (wned) - The average salary for a school superintendent in Western New York is $130,000.

That's according to a district-by-district analysis of school budgets by Business First. The paper reviewed budgets in 98 public school districts in Western New York.

It found Buffalo School Superintendent James Williams draws the highest salary at $220,000.

Scott Thomas of Business First says pay often depends on the size. He says the bduegts of some districts are equal to that of a major corporation.

"Buffalo, you're looking at $600-$700 million company. That's a big company," Thomas said.

After Buffalo, the highest superindent salaries are in Clarence and Williamsville.

Business First says there are more than 200 school administrators in WNY that earn six-figure salaries.
