Village Dissolution Votes in Williamsville & Sloan
It's part of advocate Kevin Gaughan's campaign to revitalize the local economy by downsizing government, but opponents say there are too many unanswered questions.
Gaughan and his volunteers with "Let People Decide-dot-org" have so far helped voters in five local towns cut the size of the governments. But residents in the Village of Williamsville and the Village of Sloan appear mixed on the idea.
Julie Yates is urging her neighbors in Williamsville to vote no because she says there's too many unknowns.
Gaughan says he hopes people don't vote based on fear - but out of hope and recognition that WNY is in crisis and they can do what Americans do best in a crisis - adapt and innovate.
Gaughan says by law if voters demand change through downsizing, politicians have six months to affect that change.
Polls are open until 9 p.m.
