Job Training Initiative Aimed at Inner City Youth
The groups will soon be taking applications for 60 paid-training positions in housing renovation. Those chosen will be involved in renovating two now-vacant houses in the fall and will be taught construction skills on-site.
GED classes for high-school dropouts from poor neighborhoods will be available.
"This program is critical because it responds to two of the most chronic problems that have racked our community over the last few months...vacant housing...[and] youth violence and youth joblessness," said PUSH Buffalo Executive Director Aaron Bartley.
PUSH Buffalo is vowing to transform a home at 10 Winter Street into one of the "greenest" homes in the community.
