Reverend Seeking Information on Possible Hate Crime
Reverend Darius Pridgen told all three of his church services Sunday anyone who knows something about the beating of 18-year-old Brian Milligan should talk to police or come to True Bethel Baptist Church.
Police are investigating Milligan's beating by a group of at least ten black males Tuesday night in the Schiller Park neighborhood and are treating the case as a possible hate crime.
Pridgen says there has to be an end to the violence on city streets. The pastor says cross-racial beatings like this have to be solved no matter what the race of the victim.
"Responsible people and especially those who are leaders should be the ones up front to say 'We're not going to tolerate it' and let's bring some justice to this situation," Pridgen told WNED News.
Milligan was treated in the intensive care unit at ECMC for a severe head injury.
Pridgen says more and more people on the city are coming forward with evidence, looking to stop the endless round of street violence.
