U-B Solar Energy Project Expected to Be Approved
The multi-million dollar project is being funded by the New York Power Authority. NYPA President and CEO Richard Kessel says clean energy projects, like this one, will help revitalize the region.
"It's not just about renewable energy, it's about jobs. This is a small piece of that puzzle that will create thousands of green energy jobs across Western New York," Kessel said.
The NYPA board is expected to take up the U-B project at a meeting in Lewiston.
The solar array is expected to produce enough electricity for more than 700 apartments on UB's North Campus.
Work is expected to begin within the next few months and Kessel says the solar panels should be on-line by late next year.
