Activist Thompson Files Suit Against Senate
(2009-06-26)
(wned) - Citizen activist Russ Thompson is diverting his attention from trying to get rid of Grand Island Bridge tolls to trying to prevent New York's 62 State Senators from getting paid. For Thompson, it's a matter of no work, no pay !

"It really isn't a Republican or Democratic issue, as I see it. It's really just a disgrace!" Said Michael Powers of Buffalo's Phillips Lytle law firm, speaking on behalf of Thompson.

Powers will be filing papers in State Supreme Court , calling on the Senate to get back to work. The suit threatens to seek an injunction prohibiting the senators
from getting paid.

"This is just making a mockery of the Senate, making a mockery of the elections, and frankly, it's an embarassment to the State," Powers said.
