Wilson Vows to Revamp Bills
Wilson said Thursday he'll make a full review and stresses there's a ``lot of work to do.'' Wilson adds there could be changes at any position and it's possible he'll bring in a general manager with a football background or make a lucrative offer to land a high-profile coach.
But AP reporter John Wawrow tells WNED that Wilson discounted reports that the Bills has been in touch with former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.
"He says 'I don't know any thing about him' which leads me to believe he has not spoken to Mike Shanahan or informed any one in his front office to do so," Wawrow said.
Wilson spoke by phone from his home in suburban Detroit two days after firing coach Dick Jauron and replacing him with defensive coordinator Perry Fewell for the rest of the season.
Wednesday, Fewell started what will amount to be a seven-week job audition by naming Ryan Fitzpatrick his starting quarterback for Sunday's game at Jacksonville.
According to running back Fred Jackson, Dick Jauron's departure was the main topic when Fewell met with the team
Jackson describes Perry Fewell as a "fiery" and "vocal" coach. The 47-year-old Fewell will continue to serve as the team's defensive coordinator for the rest of the season.
Wide receiver Terrell Owens says the team is trying to move forward.
"That's the nature of the business and it's one of those things that happens...you have to move on," Owens said.
The Bills are 3-6 and in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for a 10th straight year.
