GM Completes Delphi Acquisition BUFFALO (wned) - General Motors has completed its acquisition of Delphi. GM borrowed nearly $2.8 billion from the U.S. Treasury to complete the deal last month.

Nearly 1,400 Western New Yorkers are employed by Delphi Thermal Systems in Lockport.

Plant Manager Pat Curtis says during the company's four years in bankruptcy, there was a lot of anxiety among workers. Now, Curtis says there is a sense of relief and optimism among the plant's employees.

"There is excitement around the different opportunities that being part of the GM family will bring," Curtis told WNED News.

As Delphi continues transitioning back into GM, Curtis says the focus will be on making the Lockport plant more competitive.

Delphi was spun off by GM in 1999.
