Four Teens Killed in Clarence Crash
(2009-11-02)
(wned) - Four Amherst teens were killed and two other people were seriously injured in a car-van collision in the Town of Clarence last night.

The Erie County Sheriff's Department has identified the dead as 18-year-old Viktor Shapiro of Amherst, the driver of the car, 19-year-old Mark Brown of Getzville, 16-year-old Amanda Slisz and 16-year-old Megan Schnorr, both from Amherst.

Under-Sheriff Richard Donovan says Shapiro was driving north on Strickler Road when the crash occurred shortly before 8:30 pm.

"A vehicle that was heading on Strickler Road, with speed being a factor, ran through a stop sign and hit a vehicle that was headed on County Road," said Donovan

Two of the teenage victims were ejected from the vehicle. All four teens were pronounced dead at the scene. All were said to have attended Williamsville Central Schools.

The driver of the van and his wife, reportedly in their late sixties, are in ECMC in serious but stable condition.
