Albright-Knox to Close Wednesdays in Cost-Cutting Measure
Gallery officials say cutting back to four open days is part of a three-year program to cut costs and increase revenues.
The extent of the financial problem became clear three months ago when the doors were closed for an entire week.
Development Director Elaine Pyne says there has not been a drop-off in the number of people visiting the Elmwood Avenue cultural center, but there has been a drop-off in donations.
"Donors are cautious and so are sponsorships," Pyne told WNED News.
Pyne says school programs will continue unabated and there is hope the new "At Work" program which uses art works to teach business skills for corporations.
