Sphinx Competition winner Alexandra Alvarado Switala. The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in collaboration with the Buffalo Public Schools presented "West Side Connection," a neighborhood outreach program in its 3rd year, enabling the BPO to reach out to its neighbors on the diverse West Side of Buffalo in a program that culminated with a concert at Kleinhans Music Hall. This year the featured soloist was 18 year old Sphinx Competition winner, Mexican-American, Alexandra (Allie) Alvarado Switala. WNED's Peter Hall found out more.
