PRI's The World - Geo Quiz Podcast 552
OCEAN-POWERED PIPE ORGAN Today's Geo Quiz takes us to the coast of Croatia. This is the sound of what locals call the 'morske orgulje' (MORSE-kuh Or-gel-yeh). That's Croatian for 'sea organ.' A Croatian architect came up with the idea for this unique instrument, which is played by the waves. The sea organ sits in the port of the Croatian city we're looking for. The city has been around for centuries. And has paid more than its fair share of dues. It suffered oppressive Venetian rule. And it was severly damaged in World War Two and the Balkan wars of the early '90s. But it's come back strong. And today, tourists flock here to see the city's architectural treasures. Name the city, and we'll bring you the sound of its ocean-powered pipe organ
