The second Furry Friends Fundraising Film Fest will once again benefit the Blue Ridge Humane Society and will feature the film “Cask Away,” a 1-hour re-make/parody of the Tom Hanks film “Cast Away.”
The film’s plot involves two friends spending a day hiking in Pisgah Forest and enjoying a beer picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is an accident, and one of the guys (yours truly) gets separated from his buddy and finds himself lost in the remote forest for four years. During that time, the castaway must find food for survival, and, in an attempt to cope with being apart from his beloved pet, Chimay, befriends an inanimate object (similar to Wilson, the volleyball that Tom Hanks befriends in the real film). Just like in my last film, “Gary Goes Gump,” which will also be screened on this night, my love of craft beer is woven into the script and is a constant (and hilarious) theme throughout the film.
The first night has sold out so we've added a second show on Tuesday, January 7th. Tickets are $10 per person and will go on sale Sunday, December 1. Tickets are limited because of seating capacity limitations at the brewery, and we expect the event to sell out quickly so we encourage everyone to get their tickets early. Tickets can be purchased at the brewery or at Wag! A Unique Pet Boutique in Hendersonville, or by contacting Gary Glancy directly to make payment arrangements.
Farm To Fender Food Truck will be there with great food and snacks for purchase, so come hungry!
