Yesterday, 4,500 children, most under age 5, died needlessly and in pain. Today, it will happen
again. This could have been prevented if they had clean water to drink. Please join WMU students and local supporters of Clean Water for the World. People will walk 6 miles, the same distance many women and children in Third World countries walk daily for water. The route covers the circumference of the WMU campus and will take a little over an hour.
Walkers will get sponsors to donate $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, or more for each mile walked or a set amount. These tax deductible donations go directly to build the compact, locally made water purification units donated to small communities in countries around the World. They make pure, safe drinking water for the world’s poorest who lack access to safe water.
Each water unit costs $800.00 to build, serves 600 people their daily drinking water in their own communities and keeps children free of water-borne disease.
