Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, will host an Allergy Health and Wellness Fair and an Interactive Symposium on Peanut Allergy at Kalamazoo Country Day School. Led by Dr. Robert Reinhardt, the U.S. medical director for ImmunoDiagnostics at Thermo Fisher Scientific, the Allergy Health and Wellness Fair will use fun activities to build classroom awareness about food allergy for students in every grade level from kindergarten through eighth grade. Dr. Reinhardt’s Interactive Peanut Symposium at 6:00 PM that evening will educate parents, teachers and other interested members of the community about peanut and other food allergy.

The number of children with peanut allergy in the United States doubled between 1997 and 2002, and the classroom is often the location where first time allergic reactions occur. Topics at the Kalamazoo Country Day events will include living a healthy lifestyle with allergies, information to support families’ understanding of peanut allergy and new diagnostic tests that are available.
