Explore the history of our favorite food, chocolate, from its earliest use as a spiritual and medicinal aid for South American Indian tribes to officers' rations in General Braddock's fighting units in the Shenandoah Valley during the French and Indian War. Make the same hot chocolate recipe that George and Martha Washington enjoyed in their home, discover the role of chocolate in hospitals and prisons during the Civil War and as a object of trade in WWII units.Replicas of ancient Molinillo chocolate frothiers will be used to make hot chocolate drinks to finish this 90 minute presentation.
