The Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra brings you and your family a season of fairy tales and parables, folksongs and ballads, betrayals and reconciliations, beggars and lovers - luminescent gems of symphonic color and sound to spark your imagination and stir your soul.
Conducted by Music Director Kate Tamarkin, this concert includes Richard Wagner's Overture to Rienzi; Camille Saint-Saëns' Concerto for Violin & Orchestra No. 3 in B minor Daniel Sender, Violin; Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B minor, “Unfinished”; Franz von Suppé's Overture to Die schöne Galathée.
Know the Score pre-concert lectures will be presented 45 minutes before each concert. Free of charge, these informative and entertaining lectures by McIntire Department of Music Chairman and Associate Professor of Music Richard Will offer both novice and experienced patrons a deeper appreciation of the performances. Friday’s lecture will take place in Minor Hall; Sunday’s lecture will be held in the Forum at Monticello High School.
Free parking is available in the UVA Central Grounds Parking Garage, located on Emmet Street, on Friday night and at the high school on Sunday afternoons. Both venues are wheelchair accessible.
