Higher Ed. Spared from Budget Cuts
(2009-06-29)
(WEKU) - News the General Assembly spared higher education from further spending cuts during its' recent special session was music to the ears of Morehead State University President Wayne Andrews.

Andrews says just before the session began, Governor Beshear told the leaders of the commonwealth's colleges and universities that his plan was to avoid cuts to post-secondary education, even though kentucky was facing a nearly one-billion dollar budget shortfall.

Andrews admits MSU dodged a bullet this time around, adding school officials will proceed cautiously with their spending plans for fiscal 2010.

At the same time, Andrews appreciates the governor's and the state legislature's efforts to protect funding for Kentucky's higher education system.
