Citizen Journalism: What is it?

The newspaper industry is going through a transition. The result has been the loss of jobs, fewer stories, and, some say, a less-informed public. But another effect seems to be an increase in "citizen journalism": people going out into their communities to report on what's happening, and then sharing that information with others. Stephen Lacy is a journalism professor at Michigan State University. He spoke with Michigan Radio's Morning Edition host Christina Shockley.
