Pryor: Sotomayor has 'impeccable' credentials
Pryor on Tuesday praised federal appeals judge Sonia Sotomayor, who Obama chose to become the nation's first Hispanic Supreme Court justice. If approved by the Senate, Sotomayor would succeed retiring Justice David Souter.
Pryor, a Democrat, said he wants to carefully review Sotomayor's record and philosophy as the confirmation process advances.
"I believe this criterion is essential; activist judges have no place on the highest court of the land," Pryor said in a statement released by his office.
