Kustra Says He Won't Support Amethyst
(2008-08-21)
(idaho) - A movement by some of the country's leading college presidents is causing quite a buzz. The Amethyst Initiative officially launched this summer to lower the legal drinking age in the U.S. from 21 to 18. College presidents from Duke, Dartmouth, and Ohio State are a part of the movement asking lawmakers to consider the change. Here in Idaho, Boise State President Bob Kustra says this is one idea he won't get behind.

College presidents who have signed onto the Amethyst Initiative say the legal drinking age of 21 isn't working. They also say they're not looking for an immediate change, but to have a serious discussion about lowering the drinking age.
