Adults encouraged to update vaccinations
(2007-06-12)
(KOSU) - State health officials are encouraging
adults to make sure their immunizations and vaccinations are kept up to date.
Susan Mendus with the state Health Department says while most adults received vaccinations as children those immunizations wear off over time and should be updated.
And Mendus says adults born in 1957 or later may not have been vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella because it wasn't required then.
And state epidemiologist Doctor Kristy Bradley says vaccines are particularly important for older adults because complications from a disease are more likely as people get older.
