Tenn. Secretary of State Division of Charitable Solicitations CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS Any person or group that appeals to the public for support of its charitable cause is a "charitable organization". Persons or organizations that intend to solicit donations must register before asking the public for contributions. Excluded from the requirement to register are religious institutions and affiliated groups; educational institutions and supporting organizations; volunteer fire departments, rescue squads and local civil defense organizations; and, organizations that receive contributions less than $30,000 annually. (Excluded groups are required, however, to complete and file an "Exemption Request" form.) Vanderbilt University Orchestra performs Gustav Mahler’s Adagietto from Symphony No. 5, and J.S. Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin, with guest soloists Jared Hauser, oboe, and Carolyn Huebl, violin. Vanderbilt Wind Symphony performs a program of original works for winds titled “Contemporary Classics,” including: Michael Daugherty’s Asclepius (Fanfare for Brass Ensemble); David Maslanka’s Tears; Frank Ticheli’s Wild Nights!; and John Mackey’s Asphalt Cocktail.
