Nashville Ballet displays its Attitude with works from three of the country’s most dynamic, cutting-edge choreographers for a performance full of compelling and inspiring contemporary dance.

Ploughing the Dark
A hauntingly romantic duet, Ploughing the Dark is inspired by the life of Anton Chekhov and his wife Olga Knipper, who lived in different cities pursuing their individual careers and kept their relationship alive through deeply personal and poetic love letters. Their relationship remained alive through love letters, which inspired Slipper’s intensely passionate choreography, set to music written by American Composer and Vanderbilt University Associate Professor of Composition Michael Kurek. Nashville Ballet last performed Ploughing the Dark in 2007.

The Whistling
Set to Cuban music from the 1940’s, The Whistling choreographed by Dominic Walsh, is a fun, light-hearted ensemble performance. With its fluid, yet athletic movements, The Whistling was voted as the audience favorite at the American Idol-style 2010 New American Talent/Dance choreographic competition hosted by Ballet Austin.

Gina Patterson World Premiere
Created specifically for Attitude, frequent Nashville Ballet collaborator Gina Patterson will create a new work inspired by the sounds of Music City and highlighting the immense talent permeating Nashville. Patterson’s credentials as a choreographer extend across the globe, including two recent collaborations with Nashville Ballet -- Cryin’ Out set to the music of Gary Nicholson, and Anne Frank.

Attitude will be held at TPAC’s Polk Theater for three performances:
Friday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, February 17 at 2 p.m.
