Fifty-five artists from around the country and beyond will be displaying their artwork in the exhibition “A Fine Line: Contemporary Drawing”, to be hosted at the Claypool-Young Art Gallery from October 16 to November 29. The exhibition opens with a reception on Wednesday, October 16 from 5 – 7 p.m.
Anne Harris, renowned contemporary artist, faculty at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and juror of the exhibition will be speaking in the Claypool-Young Art Building auditorium (CY 111) on Wednesday October 16 from 7 - 8 pm immediately following the opening reception for the exhibition. Ms. Harris was also a student at the Breckenridge Training School on the campus of Morehead State University while her father, a doctor, and mother, an architect, practiced in the Morehead area. While on the campus of MSU, the artist will also be visiting with students in drawing and art foundation courses.
Two participating artists will present lectures to the MSU community in conjunction with the exhibition. Roscoe Landon Wilson, an artist who works in multiple media including sculpture, is scheduled for Friday, October 25 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 12:40 – 1:40 p.m. On Friday, November 8, Tamie Beldue will be speaking from 10:20 – 11:20 and 12:40 – 1:40 about her figurative drawings, paintings and prints. All lectures are open to the public and will be hosted in CY 111.
The Claypool-Young Art Gallery provides cultural and educational resources to the Morehead State University community as well as the university’s service region. The gallery is located in the Claypool-Young Art Building on the campus of Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM or by appointment, and is free and open to the public, including special events. Public parking is allowed on the main campus on weekdays after 5 p.m., and all day on weekends.
