On today's show we're going to listen to a woman who began playing violin at the age of 2. She's a violinist that Grammophon Magazine has raved about, saying: "It is difficult to argue with such a technically dazzling and unfailingly musical interpretation."
She's on the way, but first ? from Magnatune.com, here's a Renaissance band known as Pantagruel.
<<< Pantagruel ? Rang out your bells
Pantagruel is an international Early Music ensemble specialising in semi-staged performances of Renaissance music. The group was formed in Essen, Germany at the end of 2002 by the English lutenist Mark Wheeler & the German born Dominik Schneider. With the arrival of the Scottish Soprano Hannah Morrison in 2004 the ensemble began to perform throughout Europe.
Named after Pantagruel, the hero of Francois Rabelais's 1532 Novel, they have adopted the books motto "do, what thou wilt" to describe their fresh approach to early music.

Canadian born violinist Lara St. John burst on to the scene exuding sexuality, but despite that many people have been praising her simply by hearing. You can see more about her at larastjohn.com. Her new CD of Bach Concertos is available through Magnatune.com.
