Bridge over Kentucky Lake Damaged BOWLING GREEN,KY (wkyu) - The Delta Mariner struck the traffic deck of the Eggners Ferry Bridge, and a two hundred foot section collapsed onto the vessel. First responders say none of the twenty crew members on the boat were injured. Authorities say there is no indication that any vehicles were on the structure at the time of the incident. The bridge is nearly eighty years old and is the structure that leads to the western entrance to Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Engineers with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have been examining the structure, and have confirmed that two spans of the bridge are down. A full evaluation of the damage is expected to take several days. © Copyright 2012, wkyu
