New Car Share Program Comes to Austin
(2006-07-26)
AUSTIN, TX
(KUT) -
It's pretty difficult to get around Central Texas without ever using a car. But let's say you don't need a car every day. Or maybe you only need a car for relatively short trips. If that sounds familiar, listen up. A new nonprofit organization called Austin Car Share will allows drivers to rent cars by the hour and by the mile without paying for gas, maintenance, cleaning, or insurance. San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D-C have similar car-sharing organizations in place. Elliott McFadden and Brandi Clark are members of Austin Car Share's board of directors, and they spoke with KUT's Larry Schooler about their group.
