Buyer disappointed alternative energy proposal fails
(2008-08-04)
LAFAYETTE, IN
(wbaa) -
A congressman from Indiana is promising to bring solar energy to some Veterans Affairs facilities. Fourth District Republican Steve Buyer says the department conducted a feasibility study on using solar devices at 16 centers to reduce energy costs.
But he says an amendment to fund the technology was killed by the Democratic leadership.
Buyer plans to work with the Veterans Affairs' secretary to use discretionary funds for the solar project.
There will be more ethanol pumps at V.A. facilities.
Buyer says his amendment to pay for about three dozen E85 pumps was approved. © Copyright 2012, wbaa
