Collaborative Aims to Improve Local Healthcare
The project known as "Aligning Forces for Quality" is being funded by a million-dollar grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The philanthropy's Robin Mockenhaupt says the project is unique because it will bring everyone involved in local healthcare together.
"There's bad communication in healthcare, but doctors and nurses want to provide good care, hospitals want to provide good care. So we really need to bring together all the partners involved...and try to raise the quality of care," said Mockenhaupt.
The local effort to improve healthcare is being led by the "P-2 Collaborative of Western New York" which includes more than 130 organizations.
Buffalo is one of 14 communities across the country chosen for the program.
