Purdue looks to future of biodiesel industries
(2008-05-19)
(wbaa) - Government officials, leading academic researchers, and top executives from the biofuels industry will be on the Purdue campus this week to discuss issues surrounding alternative fuels.

Biofuels Symposium 2008 will address the policy and sustainability issues facing ethanol and biodiesel production.

Purdue Agronomy Professor Ron Turco says the two- day conference is especially timely considering the recent spike in global oil prices.

He says topics will include the current state of the biofuels industry as well as presentations on cutting edge technology.

Turco says biodiesel development is vital to the nation's economy.

He says the price of goods will continue to rise as truckers face higher fuel prices to transport them.

Biofuels Symposium 2008 is set for tomorrow and Monday in Purdue's Stewart Center.
