Foster Child Success Story
(2008-02-23)
Ashley Rhodes-Courter
(WUSF) - Ashley Rhodes-Courter spent 10 years in foster care in Florida, being shuttled from home to home as she says "like an unwanted toy." Rhodes-Courter is a recent graduate of Eckerd College and calls school a saving grace. Her love of writing lead to a book called "Three Little Words," a personal account of life in the foster care system and adjusting to life after adoption as a young teenager. WUSF's Susan Giles Wantuck spoke recently with Rhodes-Courter about her experience and her goals as a child advocate.
