Moberly Selected for New Bio-Diesel Plant
(2007-10-23)
(KBIA) - A group of Missouri farmers and businessmen have selected Moberly as the site for a new bio-diesel production plant. The group, called "Producers Choice," voted to build the 15-million-dollar biodiesel facility near U-S 24 and Business 63 in the northern part of Moberly.

Producers Choice spokesman Greg Walker says Moberly's infrastructure made it an attractive location for the new bio-diesel facility.

"We wanted to be close to rail, we wanted to be close to good paved highways, and we wanted to have some of the tax incentives that went with being just inside the Moberly city limits."

Russell Runge serves as president of the Moberly-Randolph Economic Development Corporation. Runge says the new bio-diesel facility adds jobs in Moberly, but is also a source of pride for the community.

"The addition of a 15 million dollar investment here is considerable. And the amount of jobs, the types of jobs, it just continues to add to the diversity of the economy. And that's something we're really pleased with and hopefully will continue to do."

The site for the new bio-diesel plant still requires state and local approval. If the building permits are approved, construction on the plant could begin later this year.
