(wnpr) - Genocide is a 20th century term used to describe something that's been going on throughout history, including today.

Author Ben Kiernan has been studying genocide and ethnic cleansing for years, and his new book is a massive study of this bleak part of world history. "Blood and Soil" traces exterminations of groups based on ethnic, social, religious and racial differences from Sparta to Darfur.

Today, where we live, we'll talk about what we can learn from this history, from colonialism, to nazism, to communism, and how it can be applied to address genocide in the world today.

We'll also continue our series of stories about the health of Connecticut's underserved communities. Cambodian refugees fled the genocide in that country, only to resettle in the US - saddled with chronic mental and physical disabilaties. One unique project is extending health care to this community.
