WKMS Begins "Company for the Holidays" Programming Thanksgiving Day WKMS-FM, the listener-supported public radio service and NPR member station from Murray State University begins its seasonal broadcast of "Company for the Holidays" programming on Thursday, November 26, Thanksgiving Day. "Company for the Holidays" is a blend of musical and spoken word holiday entertainment airing weekly through New Year's Day 2010.
Public Radio Service WKMS Meets $100,000 Fundraiser Goal in Community Support Murray State's listener supported public radio service, 91.3 FM, WKMS concluded its autumn fundraiser with the final day of its on-air campaign on November 3. Listeners and underwriters providing matching grants met the $100,000 goal, and these contributions go into the station's operating budget for business expenses, like the website www.wkms.org that the station maintains year round for listening to its two channels online.
Public Radio Service WKMS Fundraises Murray State's listener supported public radio service 91.3 FM, WKMS, is fundraising for operational support as it does twice annually. Its autumn goal is $100,000 in community contributions, and listeners have gone over the half-way mark towards that goal by mail, by web pledging and through Racerthon calling on behalf of the station. The station's on-air fundraising begins Saturday, October 24th and volunteers are welcome to help in the studios located at the University.
WKMS introduces Friday Night Live Murray, KY- A new, locally produced music program, Friday Night Live premiers on Murray State's listener supported public radio service, WKMS, this Friday, September 25th. Each week Friday Night Live will showcase great music, including a variety of classical, jazz, and acoustic performances, recorded live from several regional venues. Friday Night Live will be heard on 91.3 FM and 91.3 WKMS HD-1 and HD-2.
Work on LBL Tower Affects WKMS Regional Signal WKMS, the 100,000 watt public radio service of Murray State University, is powering down intermittently to allow structural reinforcement to its tower in Land Between the Lakes
New Season of The Eisenhower Hour on WKMS Beginning Sunday, September 13, all programs of The Eisenhower Hour are new. During each segment host Dr. Bob takes an in-depth look at musical tradition, an individual musician, or genre. The Eisenhower Hour is a fun, nostalgic journey through American popular music and culture of the Fifties and can be heard Sundays at 6 p.m. on 91.3 FM, on 91.3 WKMS HD-1, and via our web stream at wkms.org.
WKMS Increases News Service Region-Wide Murray, KY- 91.3 WKMS-FM, Murray State's listener-supported public radio service and NPR affiliate, is increasing its news service to the region. Beginning Monday, July 13, WKMS weekdays are all news and information through 7 p.m.
