Foss Says Eggner's Ferry Bridge Lights Were Out
(2012-02-16)
(wkms) - The owners of the Delta Mariner, the cargo ship that struck and collapsed part of the Eggner's Ferry bridge say they were not responsible for the collision because some of the bridge's lights were not working. Foss Maritime made the claim in a federal lawsuit seeking to exonerate itself from any liability stemming from the January 26th collision. Foss puts the ship's value at $13 million. U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson Lieutenant Jennifer Jessee says the wreck is still under review and no cause has been determined. Governor Steve Beshear offered no details on Kentucky's response to the lawsuit when he visited the Eggner's Ferry bridge Wednesday. He did say the state's lawyers will formulate a plan to seek reimbursement from Foss after the Coast Guard completes its investigation of the incident. © Copyright 2014, wkms
